I succumbed to feeling lousey today and stayed home. Flu? Sinisitis? Migraine? Don’t know. MS? who knows. Everything hurt, and nothing was helping. Got up, had a shower, nope, not going to make it. So, I drank gallons of water, napped, brought in some wood, and had a quiet day.
During which, a pair of woodpeckers graced the tree in the back yard out the bedroom window, and I tried to get a decent picture with my new camera. Lovely they were. Nice red hat. I think I have seen them before. It was warm enough today to get birds at the feeder. Now the cat had a lovely time too, staring at them out the window as well.
Wow!!! Got up this morning, after shooing myself out of bed, to get the Pillsbury Cinnamon rolls in the oven, I know, took the short cut, but they are good!!! Reheated the leftover cooked coffee made from overground coffee beans, that clogged up the coffee maker, but it tasted good, and wow!! got me moving!! Watched Iron Man 3 – again – what a great movie, with awesome music, had to put on the surround sound for that.
Anyway, the morning tasks were to clean up the clogged pathways full of branches, fill up the woodbox, do the dishes and clear the front deck, not in any particular order. You can’t see where the ground is – another 24 inches below the deck, but with the warmer weather 0C, the snow is coming off the steel roof, and landing on the deck – makes for a messy icy pile to clean up. So, rather than going to the gym – cleaned off the deck. I can’t complain – it isn’t a huge deck – and my sweetie does the rest with the snowblower, or ATV , which was a messy job of mush today.
Afterwards enjoyed sitting and watching the chickadees and bluejays at the bird feeder, I think maybe a hot chocolate is in order!! I am grateful for our woodstove – such a warm heat on a damp day!!
Well, the first day of the new year was pretty brisk!! So odd to be in the middle of the week, and back to work on Thursday, tomorrow.
It is hard to convey just how much snow we have had since the beginning of December. Today, the sun was shining and it was irresistable to go outside, even at -13 C or so. :). I would imagine the hot sunny beach resorts south will soon be filling with Canadians anxious to get a break from the constant winter. Snowboarding, snowmobiling, ice fishing, it is all good to go right now. Ice fishing of course, has to be checked with locals for sure, but if we are heading to -25C tonight, not including any windchill factor, it has got to be getting pretty thick.
Not going to make out loud resolutions, I always get stuck on them. I did truly have a lovely Christmas, family, friends, snow, memories, all good.
